Welcome to my blog where I'll keep track of my journey from working as a web developer who knows some statistics and maths to working as an AI developer. I've been fascinated by artificial intelligence since I was in my teens and have been thinking about working as a data scientist or ai engineer for the last decade. This seems like the perfect time to turn my dream into reality. AI is the future and I want to be a part of it. I'd like to share what I learn on my way, which is going to range from very basic topics like brushing up on my python to more advanced ones. I'll share what worked for me and what didn't. To start off with, I liked this video about becoming an AI engineer because it seems positive and constructive. Surprisingly a lot of videos in my YouTube feed seem to be quite negative with people seemingly warning others off of pursuing AI engineering. I'm not sure why that is the case. Machine learning and artificial intelligence may not get you an entry level job if you're just out of college, and may not be an easy path to a high paying career, but as long as it excites you as it does me, I don't think any of that matters. Anyway, this video seems to have some sensible advice on what skills to focus on and how to gain some experience. I think I'll roughly follow these steps.

In the next few posts I will write about some courses and AI papers that I have come across and that I enjoyed. They were also useful but I think the most important marker that I'm on the right track is that I'm inspired by what I'm doing. Getting a machine to figure something out is still exciting and magical to me (you know what I mean) and I hope it stays that way for a long time.
